Okay, okay — forgive the bad pun. But I had to go there! I just had to do it. *smile*
Anyway, I reviewed my wardrobe and determined that I lack long sleeve shirts of both the woven and knit variety. This is not an accident — I actually hate sleeves. I’m all about throwing a cardigan or jacket over EVERYTHING, so my tops need to have short, no, or sheer sleeves to prevent me from over heating. That being said, I’m tired of feeling bulky with my million layers. So, long sleeved shirts here I come!
Vogue pattern V8927 is going to be my first foray into the wonderful world of single layer dressing. I bought this pattern largely for the lace overlay version of the shirt, and also because the longer version of the shirt can be worn as a shirt dress. My version takes inspiration from both of these options. I’m using a medium weight polka dot knit for the body of the shirt, the dalmatian print cotton for the collar, cuffs, and button band, and the polka dot mesh for barely-there sleeves. This pattern required a great deal of alteration on my end to achieve my vision, and frankly, pooped me out.
So I’m going to be doing some simple sewing for awhile, and then I’ll cut this bad boy and stitch it.
